I have been in healthcare for over 20 years & have been an RN for over 15 years in a variety of settings. I am very passionate about providing holistic, personalised care to each woman & family I team with. I have hospital nursing experience but continuously choose home birth for SO many reasons.

Education & Credentials

Knowledge is power! I hold Bachelor degrees in 2 fields & completed graduate Midwifery training through Frontier Nursing University. I am actively licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse & Independent Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM-I). I am Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and have completed advanced training in obstetric emergencies, post-partum complications, fetal heart tracing, breastfeeding education, lactation support & more.

I also enjoy teaching CPR + first aid courses to others.

Offering prenatal care, labor support, home birth, postpartum care, newborn cares & lactation support is my absolute passion.

I come to your home when you are in labor then visit you at your home for postpartum assessment and newborn screening tests and physical exams.

After birth, relax at home & I bring my supplies to complete your visit there!

Midwife Model of Care: I believe in You

"Midwife" means "with woman" so your prenatal & well-woman care should involve a relationship of trust & continuous support. Care should be tailored specifically to each unique individual. This model of care includes fewer unnecessary medical interventions for low-risk women wanting to be involved in decision-making. Which Elementz of care are most important to you? We will provide options to help you make informed choices about your evidence-based healthcare options. We trust that you know the normals for your body and you should have a voice. The combination of support and comfort from your team is beneficial in facilitating a smooth transition for your entire pregnancy, birthing experience, and beyond. Being supported, cared for holistically, with professionals focused on safety during this important time in your life, is one of our main goals.

Pregnancy Health

We will have regular, scheduled prenatal visits like most clinics but your team intentionally keeps patient counts low & isn't incentivized to meet specific numbers or quotas. Your scheduling options will be flexible & based around your schedule. Your visits are in a comfortable and relaxed setting without added constraints & pressures. You should leave each appointment having all your questions answered and feeling truly empowered to make optimal decisions. Whom ever you choose to have at your appointment is always welcome. Have other kiddos: bring them or we can come to you! We can arrange what works best for your situation & I don't mind traveling.

Labor & Delivery

We will be in close contact before, during, and after your labor. We will travel to you with all birthing supplies and emergency equipment. We will arrive as planned, based on your personal preferences & location. You will know your labor team is completely focused on you and your family. During labor, you will experience the freedom to move around as needed, eat what you'd like when you'd like, relax in whatever way feels good for your body, and enjoy the comforts of your own home with support constantly surrounging you. The Midwife model of care reserves unnecessary interventions & promotes the physiologic birth processes but is always prepared. This midwife regularly takes extra classes & keeps up to date with the latest methods of evidence based care.

Postpartum

It is important you receive the best possible care before as well as after giving birth so our team will stay to provide support, conduct physical exams, assist with breastfeeding, closely monitor for any potential complications, and answer any questions you might have. All these services are at your home so you don't have to travel during labor or go anywhere after birth.

After the birth of your sweet baby, we will clean up & no one would ever know you labored and delivered there. Our goal is to stay closely connected with you for healthy development while making things less stressful while in alignment with your choices and values. I then come check on you in your home and monitor for any potential complications.

Newborn Care

To ensure you receive the best possible care for your precious newborn baby, our team will stay in close contact with you after your birth to conduct physical exams, assist with breastfeeding, and provide one-on-one care. Nope, this provider won't be responsible for any other laboring or recently delivered moms & wont leave until you are both completley stable. Each of these services can be provided to you in the comfort of your home so risk of contact with multiple infectious agents remains extreemly low. We provide everything for top-notch care of your little one and bring needed equipment with us. We regularly practice delayed cord clamping and have experience caring for both mom and new baby. We remain skilled, competent, and licensed in resuscitative interventions to care for any emergency.

Hi! I am Chrissy, an APRN, CNM with independent licensure to professionally practice in Kansas & Colorado.

My dream & goals include assisting to postively change maternal morbidities & preventable mortalities, but to also bring more healthcare options to women around Northwest KS & Eastern CO; even in rural areas.

I have over 15 years of experience as an RN and beyond graduate level education, have encountered many providers & memorable experiences helping shape how I practice & offer cares.

I have personal hospital experiences creating a beautiful family but I never knew there could be anything different. I did not fully understand I had options and could ask questions or refuse unnecessary medical interventions.

I want your pregnancy and birth experience to be profoundly memorable, as it is a monumental life event you will remember forever! You should never feel scared, alone, disrespected, or judged for your healthcare decisions.

Trained Birth Attendant

Your chosen birth team will include a trained birth attendant who is supportive & a second pair of helpful hands. She will assist your Midwife, help clean up supplies, and record birth times.

Your Midwife will always have another Midwife backup as well as having a personal consult for any situation. Dr. Chun is an impressive provider with over 25 years of practice as an established OBGYN & one I can reach out to at anytime.

Visitors or guests: your labor can include as many or as few support persons as YOU choose.

Birth Photographer/Doula/Chiropractor

We have several great recommendations for birth or postpartum doulas, photographers, chiropracticors, and specialists familiar with obstetric patients & new babies in or around the area. We team closely with your doula if you choose to have one or we can discuss several other support options available. This experience should truly be yours.
